“A Whisker Away” (Japanese title: I want to cry, wearing a cat) is the story of Miyo Sasaki, a teenage girl who has difficulty expressing her feelings to her classmate Kento Hinode.
Miyo feels trapped in everyday life and often has difficulty getting Kento’s attention.
One day, Miyo finds a cat mask that allows her to transform into a cat.
In her cat form, she fearlessly approaches Kento and begins spending time with him.
Miyo explores the world in a new way and experiences freedom like never before.
But as time goes by, Miyo realizes that becoming a cat is not the solution to all problems.
Facing the fact that she cannot remain in her cat form forever, Miyo reveals her true feelings to Kento and must struggle to find her true self.
The film explores themes of love, identity, and self-acceptance, expressed through beautiful and magical imagery.
